Walking on Pilion
Pelion is excellent for taking walks. Therefore Atropa Travel has put together an interesting walking program. Accompanied by an expert guide, it will take you to places you would have never discovered. The transfer to the starting point of the walks and back is included. For participating in these walks a desirable good condition is required. It is a varied route full of rises and falls often through traditional donkey paths, called kalderimis.
Day 1 Arrival at Vólos
Day 2 Ágios Lavréntios — Ágios Vlássios — Áno Lechónia
For previous participants in the walking package of Atropa Travel, this route may seem much like another year. However, it’s completely redone and no meter is similar to that we’ve had. The start is in the lovely Agios Lavrentios with the same named monastery. Then we make a slight rise by a forest of plane trees and cedars to the little church of Ágios Ioánnis. Then it goes downhill through the kalderimis, traditional donkey paths, to the village square of Ágios Vlássios. After a short break we continue our route to Áno Lechónia through an area with olive trees abound.

Day 3 Tsagaráda — Damóuchari — Ágios Ioánnis
The tour starts with a walk through Tsagaráda. Also this village has the traditional Archontika houses and is known for its 1,000-year-old plane tree in the middle of the village in the Agia Kyriaki Square. On the square is also the Taxiarchon Church with the opportunity for a visit. Kalderimis bringing us from Tsagarada to the picturesque Damóuchari. Did you know that a part of the Mamma Mia movie was filmed here? Then we continue the tour and walk through a scenic route to Ágios Ioánnis beach at Pápa Neró, where we finish the trek.

Day 4 is a rest day
Day 5 Chánia — Alykópetra — Portariá
We begin at an altitude of 1200 meters in the ski resort of Chánia. We descend through a wooded area to Alykópetra. We walk until we will be surprised by a wonderful view over the Pagasitikos Bay. Kalderimis, traditional donkey paths, lead us farther down until we see the first houses of Portariá. Another short stroll through the narrow streets with typical houses of this region brings us to the end of today.

Day 6 is a rest day
Day 7 Argalastí — Kálamos — Lefókastro — Áfissos
Today is a relaxing hike. The start is into Argalastí where we walk down, through traditional kalderimis, to the beach of Kálamos. The route continues slope along and parallel to the sea through olive groves. Along we will pass by four beaches where we can stop for a swim or a coffee. Eventually through Lefókastro back to Áfissos. Altitude: 250 m – 0 m – 40 m – 0 m
